The Improvement of Semiconductor Inventions

Semiconductors are believed to be a unique kind of chemical elements. At first this unique class was found in the 1890’s but more thoroughly it started to be discovered just after the First World War in Europe and in Soviet Union. Russian scientists performed a lot of researches. The results showed that semiconductors can assist to accelerate the fluctuations and maintain them. During several years igbt modules were excluded by tubes. The most considerable event in the history of semiconductor devices was the invention of the first transistor by Bell company in 1949. That was the start of the era of semiconductor technologies.

Many physicists perform a huge amount of researches just to get more knowledge about such characteristic of semiconductors as stimulated radiation. It caused the creation of semiconductor laser device based on usage of p – n barriers and then on heterojunction.

Nowadays we may see a great deal of various power semiconductor devices that work with assistance of use of semiconductors. In case there were no semiconductor devices used in the newest technologies, we won’t have an opportunity to perform such nice experiments which are important for other sciences.

The basic reason why semiconductors are considered to be the detached class is that they have got a conductivity that is between the conductivities of metals and isolators. Such matters as germanium, silicon, selenium and some others are considered to be semiconductors.

Physicists haven’t been interested in semiconductors for quite a long period of time. The first person who decided to get more information about semiconductors was Abram Ioffe – Russian scientist. Any semiconductor device has such main characteristics as electron and hole conduction. It is dependant on the chemical mixture of the used admixtures. The admixtures influence considerably on the electron conduction of the semiconductors.

The most important semiconductor systems that are used in technologies are diodes, transistors and thyristors which are based on elements with electron and hole conductions. Their unique features are widely utilized nowadays, but they became widespread just ten years ago. There is a possibility to transform almost every type of energy into electric power by usage of semiconductors. Heat and cold may be produced by some kinds of semiconductors. Semiconductor devices may be used in radio receiver and quantum generator, in little atomic battery and in microprocessors. Engineers can’t do without semiconductor rectifiers, changers, power resistors and amplifiers. The weight and size of semiconductor systems are considerably smaller than their tube variants. When semiconductors are used some important features as power and reliability are being developed a lot.

From day to day we can hear about some newest inventions that help humanity to have more conveniences or even save the lives.
