5 Ways to Add Unique Content To Your Site Quickly

You have time constraint. You hate to write. Your budget is too small (or non-existent). So outsourcing is out of the question. But you need to have fresh content on your site.  So what are the options?

1. The first option is to get free articles from article directory and place them on your site. The main advantage is instant content. No need to rework. The drawback is duplicate content penalty by the major search engines (although I think this penalty has been exaggerated).  There is also traffic leakage to the author’s site via the resource box.

In this case, you may want to add an introduction at the beginning of the article to make the final article a little more unique. You can also add your own conclusion or text ads after the resource box.

2. The next place to look at for free articles is the public domain.  Here you won’t have problems with copyright infringement or plagiarism issue. But it is worth spending some effort to at least modify them to make the content easier to understand. A lot of public domain materials use rather ‘elegant’ English which tend to be a bit difficult to understand. Rewrtiting them a little make it easier for your reads and also reduces the danger of duplicate content.

3. The third option is PLR (private label rights) articles. These are articles that you can use or modify freely, including putting you name down as the author without modification. However, you can’t do is to claim copyright to them and most of the time, you cannot sell them as it is. Nevertheless, this option gives you the most flexibility so it is definitely worth considering. To make them unqiue, modify the introduction, summary and the first couple of sentences of each paragrah.

4. Since there is no budget for hiring a freelance writer, you have to get other people to write for you for free. OK, not exactly free. I mean you can contact other authors and tell them what you can do for them in exchange for them to write you some good articles. In short, a barter trade.

As an example, you can offer to set up their websites or provide customer support for a couple of days. In return, they can write you 5-10 fresh articles. If you are not sure what to offer, just ask them what they need and see if you can provide it. If you can’t, move on to the next author and repeat the request. Keep doing this until you find someone who is willing to barter with you.

5. Another way is to offer a portion of your potential profits to other writers. Tell your potential writers that they will get a share of all revenue generated from the articles they wrote.

For long term benefits, you should try your best to get fresh and original articles for your site. Try to write at least 1 original article yourself once a week. Remember that practice makes perfect.

I read somewhere recently that you can go to the Way Back Machine website, find old, expired websites and copy their old posts. That makes some sense, but it has limitations too.

You don’t want old articles about new products and developments. Old articles are fine for some topics, but not others. Also you may want to change some of the writing to avoid copyright problems. If the article is on an abandoned website you probably (not certainly) don’t have to worry about the duplicate content issue.
